DIY. Scrabble fridge magnets

Do you want to write original messages on your fridge? Do it with some scrabble tiles.

To create your on scrabble tiles fridge magnets you will need:

Scrabble tiles
Strong magnets
Superglue

You just have to apply some glue to your scrabble tiles and press the magnet into the glue until it dries. It’s another original idea from A Typical Type A. And now…you just have to use your imagination to spell out all kind of messages.

With 449.283..now 444.284… fans in Facebook, the Musée du Louvre is one of the most popular museums on the Internet, after the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, with Pompidou and Tate in second and third place. The famous French museum has decided to replace the audio guides by… five thousand consoles 3DS de Nintendo! With the implementation of those consoles that give us a sensation of three dimensionality-without using special glasses- the public of the museum will travel into the paintings of all times. Just imagine a journey through the landscapes of La Gioconda!

I’ve found some that wonderful fridge magnets of the earth and the moon created by mapsworldwide. They explain the 3D effect as a result of “the fact that looking at a real object our eyes perceive it from two slightly differing angles since they are set apart. The brain constructs three-dimensional depth from this difference. Due to the nature of the angles, closer objects have more of a three dimensional effect than those further away.”

Last week the FBI shot down Megaupload, one of the most popular file sharing services, where millions of people had access to all kind of cultural products such as movies, TV series or music. The FBI charged the site’s founders and five others with running “an international organized criminal enterprise” responsible for “massive online piracy.” It was a controversial operation that one more time opened the debate about the limitations of Internet, and the anti piracy laws, like the SOPA in the USA. Considering that some of these laws are too hard, last week Wikipedia went black, and Anoymous a group of activists of the web, and a decentralized online community that acts anonymously in a coordinated manner, hacked some pages, and published some links to download music and movies from the web. What is your opinion, must antipiracy laws like SOPA censor all pages of file sharing or on the contrary is it necessary to fight under censorship to defend the free circulation of culture on the Internet?

Each month for the 29 some Argentinean restaurants offer gnocchi, a delicious in its daily menu. But… what is gnocchi is? This little potato dumplings that are turned into pasta in fact are one of the dishes that Italians brought to Argentina in one of the migratory waves that spread all kind of European traditions into South America. But, why each month a great number of Argentineans, eat gnocchi putting money under the plates?

There are so many stories related to the origin of that tradition, some people say that the cause is that 29th was typically the day when people were the poorest, the day before payday. Gnocchi was a cheap and filling meal that they enjoyed, having hopes of attracting prosperity. The word graffiti comes from an Italian word, graffiato (“scratched”). It refers not only to that underground culture, those designs that perhaps you have seen in some streets of your city… The graffiti art history starts in Rome- referred to the inscriptions found on the walls of ancient sepulchers or ruins as the Catacombs of Rome or Pompeii- and also in Greece. In our modern times the English poet Lord Byron will scratch his name in the Temple of Posidon at Cape Sunion in Greece, like the actual graffiti artists leave their signature on the walls of our cities. After 70’s graffiti will be part of pop culture and will become a discipline into contemporary art…

Introducing Robert Crumb

Today I want to introduce Robert Crumb to you, a legendary cartoonist, one of the founders of underground comics during the 60’s and 70’s that nowadays continues creating his critical and satirical- and sometimes controversial- comic strips. Recently, Crumb has published his collection of record covers of all kind of music groups designed by him. A friend of mine offered this wonderful book for Christmas to me and I am still enjoying it:
